About the project
About the project
We Make is a Belgian design studio focused on branding and web design projects. The original website felt visually empty and lacked a clear content structure. Some pages did not provide enough information, while the hierarchy and presentation of content were inconsistent. The goal of the redesign was to create a more distinctive and visually engaging experience while preserving a minimalist aesthetic. Special attention was given to content structure, typography, color usage, and overall readability. This project was completed as part of an educational program at the UPROCK Design School.

My Role
My Role
During the project, I worked closely with a mentor and followed a workflow similar to a real commercial process. My responsibilities included research, competitor analysis, collecting references, defining the visual direction, creating UX solutions, developing the UI concept, prototyping, and preparing final layouts.

Before starting the redesign, I identified several areas that required improvement. The existing website lacked a clear page structure, had weak visual hierarchy, and did not fully communicate the studio’s personality. Every project has its unique aspects, but I followed a universal plan to achieve the desired outcome step by step.

Briefing & Technical Specification
I completed a project brief and developed a technical specification after analyzing the available project data. The better we understand user needs and expectations, the better we can design for them.
Competitor Analysis & Website Structure Development
There's no need to "reinvent the wheel" – successful solutions already exist, and it’s important to find and adapt them. At this stage, I mapped out the structure to better understand problems, goals, and potential solutions.

The more ideas, the better. I gathered as many references as possible, even if they initially seemed unusual. This step helped me define the overall direction and style.

The visual concept aimed to modernize the website while preserving its restrained and professional tone. I chose a monochrome visual language combined with strong typography, spacing, and large imagery to create a more expressive and contemporary look.

Throughout the design process, many interface elements were refined multiple times – from grid adjustments and image selection to content composition and spacing. This iterative workflow helped gradually improve the clarity, aesthetics, and overall consistency of the interface.

After completing the main layouts, I added interface animations and finalized the project structure. Motion was used carefully to support the user experience and make interactions feel smoother and more dynamic without overwhelming the minimalist style.

The final website became more structured, visually distinctive, and easier to navigate. The redesign improved content readability, strengthened the studio’s visual identity, and created a more engaging presentation of the studio’s work while preserving a clean and minimalist aesthetic.

This project received recognition at the Uprock Awards, where it was selected as one of the best student projects of the program. The experience helped me strengthen my skills in UX thinking, visual systems, content structuring, and building modern editorial-style interfaces.
